THEME: QUENCH NOT THE SPIRIT
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:19
Dear friend, greetings and blessings. We have the responsibility to make sure that our Spiritual life doesn’t fail. When your spiritual life gets cold like a fireside, dogs and pigs (Evil Spirits) will come stay in your life. But when there’s fire in your life, it chases the devil and his agents.
How can I keep my Spiritual life burning/glowing?
1. Be a man/woman of consistent prayer (1 Thess 5:17). When you stop praying you die spiritually. When the devil wants to attack your life, he makes sure that you feel reluctant to pray because your prayers are a hindrance to his manifestations (Jam 5:17-19).
2. Study the Word and let it be evident in your life. Paul told young pastor Timothy to make sure that he should study, not just read the Word but to study to make himself approved. The Word is that which qualifies us for approval (2 Timothy 2:15). Joshua in order to enter and take possession of the promised land, he had one requirement from God and that was to make sure that the Holy book should never depart from his mouth. He had to meditate upon it day and night (Jos 1:6-8). Your Bible is a powerful weapon to keep the fire burning.
3. Be in the place fellowship. God lives in fellowship (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). You need brethren fellowship for iron sharpens iron (Acts 4 & Psalm 133). Some people claim they worship God in their hearts. That’s a lie. Even God does not live alone, how much more of you? When you go to a place of fellowship, the Word you receive, the praise and the worship amplifies your faith and steers you up for battles. You need to be in fellowship/Church constantly not passively.
4. Fasting. Fasting is a strong deterrent against the works of the devil. The miracles you couldn’t do while you pray, please add fasting to it and see the big difference it will make. Jesus cast out a demon and the disciples couldn’t and he told them this can only be done by fasting and prayers (Matt 17:20-21).
5. Receiving Holy Communion is part of lighting up the fire in you. Jesus Christ says whoever does not eat my flesh and drink my blood does not have life (John chapter 6). A lot of Christians are so ignorant about the power in the body and blood of Jesus Christ and that’s why they absent themselves from Holy Communion services.
How can you burn with fire when you ignore these things? How can you experience God’s power when you have deliberately refused to go to Church for fellowship? You don’t pray regularly, you don’t fast, you don’t even open your Bible to study, how can you hear revelations concerning your life? I urge you today to wake up and examine your Spiritual life and get back to the basics of the Christian faith.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I come to you with all my weaknesses and problems. I am sorry for inability to commit myself. Today I make a commitment never to allow my Spiritual life get cold, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Amen.
